Five Minutes With.. Vanessa Andreoli-Cooper

27 May 2021

Today we are speaking to Vanessa Andreoli-Cooper who has worked with Develop Consulting for the past two-and-a-half years.

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Since joining Develop Consulting, I have been part of the Productive General Practice Quick Start delivery team, working on behalf of NHS England with practices from across the country.

I have been supporting practices to make practical improvement to help reduce pressures in general practice and release efficiencies by guiding them through targeted and high impact improvements based on their practice’s needs. So far, we’ve been able to save hundreds of thousands of practice hours, improving the way the practice works, but also improving patient care.

What is your speciality in consulting?

Having worked in General Practice for a long time, previously as a Practice Manager and now as an improvement coach, I’m able to combine practical Lean Principles within the real-world challenges that practices face. All of which is with the aim to deliver tangible results over a rapid period of time.

How has your work and advice to clients changed since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic?

Of course, lots of my clients have been through a really challenging period, so whereas previously the improvement was driven by their general desire to do better, recently it’s been driven by necessity.

For the past year, I’ve been working with them by supporting them virtually, helping them with change and improvement. This has proved to be rewarding to be able to give advice which has meant practices can streamline their own systems and help their patients during such difficult times.

How do you see your sector changing over the next few months as we emerge from this?

I believe as we come out of this pandemic we shall be working to continually strive to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing environment to support primary and secondary care with the after-effects of Covid-19. There has been a lot of change over this period of time and many will need help to stabilise their systems to continue helping patients both online and in person.

And finally, what do you find the most satisfying part of your role?

I love supporting practices, and so being able to watch the staff light up as they understand the concept of the PGP Quickstart programme is very fulfilling.
