New manufacturing, operations and construction expert strengthens Develop Consulting team

A consulting expert with extensive experience in operational excellence and leadership development has joined the expanding team at Develop Consulting.
Steve Betts brings over 25 years of manufacturing, operations and construction expertise to the Midlands-based consultancy firm, having worked across multiple sectors including automotive, aerospace, nuclear, food manufacturing, and renewable energy.
His impressive career includes 17 years at Toyota Manufacturing UK, where he played a pivotal role in implementing Japanese manufacturing principles and cultural transformation. As part of Toyota’s Manufacturing Development Division, Steve was instrumental in rolling out operational excellence programmes and served as a master trainer, developing over 1,000 staff members across multiple shifts.
Steve joins Develop Consulting as Senior Consultant and will work within the manufacturing and construction portfolio under Construction, Operations and Manufacturing Director Steve Clark’s leadership, bringing his wealth of experience in operational transformation and people development.

Throughout his career, Steve has led numerous successful transformation projects, from implementing leadership development programmes for industry engineers and graduates to managing significant manufacturing consolidation projects. His expertise has helped transform loss-making operations into profitable ventures, including helping one company save over £22milion in capital rail projects.
Prior to joining Develop Consulting, Steve worked alongside various organisations including Jaguar Land Rover, Transport for London, Sellafield Nuclear Fuel Decommissioning, Modular Housing Manufacturing, major UK food manufacturers, and most recently in the aerospace sector, where he supported the manufacturing of MRO advanced specialist maintenance tooling.
