Develop Consulting has today announced it’s 2022 charity drive will be focused on improving the lives of children in Nepal through the work of Rotary International.
The Midlands based consultancy has thrown its support behind one of the projects run by the international service organisation, which will be transforming the lives of hundreds of children in Nepal.
The consultancy was approached by one of its trusted associates Lee Kemp, who has been working alongside Develop Consulting for the past three years.
Lee, who is himself a Rotarian, asked Develop Consulting for its support for a project he has been involved in since 2018 to build a school for children in a district of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
He said: “It was a lifechanging experience when I went there for a month in 2018, and I experienced the deprivation there first hand. Part of my trip was to witness a school opening ceremony and it was really inspiring.
“Over 300 schools in the area were demolished in an Earthquake in 2015 and they are still rebuilding them, but it’s a very deprived area and they have no money, which is where Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Chesterfield stepped in.
“This was the first time that Rotary had built a school, and they did this through their traditional fundraising efforts. But more has to be done as we are now seven years on and many children still don’t have a school to learn in, and that’s a whole generation who have missed out. It now needs to be accelerated which is why we have gone to organisations, such as Develop Consulting, and asking them to help sponsor such a great cause and change the lives of so many,” he added.
Lee was due to re-visit the area but when the pandemic hit, this visit was put on hold. He is now planning on going in October 2022.
“The people there are utterly fantastic and I can’t wait to see them all again, and see the difference companies have made through their donations,” he added.
Steve Boam, CEO of Develop Consulting said it was a worthy cause and they were glad to be able to play a small part in it.
“Many of our projects are linked to construction projects, so it seems fitting that we are able to support another, even though it is thousands of miles away. Lee is a valuable asset to us at Develop Consulting and we rely on his skills, so when he approached us for some help, we were glad to offer some sponsorship, and hope by us publicising this too, we are able to encourage others to as well,” he added.
So far, £6,010 has been raised against their target of £30k.
