A leading consultancy firm specialising in healthcare transformation has announced the appointment of a former NHS Director and charity CEO to drive expansion across the acute, community and mental health, and social care sectors.
Develop Consulting has hired Dr Felix Davies as Healthcare Director, who will work alongside fellow Healthcare Director Simon Bricknell to expand the company’s reach beyond its current national primary care programme delivery to include previous and new areas. His appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable improvement programmes across NHS providers, Integrated Care Boards, as well as charity and private providers.
Dr Davies brings over 25 years of distinguished experience spanning clinical practice, senior NHS leadership, and organisational development across mental health, acute, community, social care and primary care settings. He began his career as a clinical psychologist in the NHS, progressing to become Director of Psychological Services in two NHS Trusts, and served as Clinical Director of the award-winning National Demonstration Site in Doncaster for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (now NHS Talking Therapies).
His leadership portfolio has included CEO of POhWER, the advocacy charity, and national committee roles with the NHS Confederation, Health Education England, Department of Health and Social Care, and Ministry of Defence. His international experience spans the USA, Germany, India and Japan.
In his new role, Dr Davies will focus on building strategic partnerships with senior decision makers across NHS, charity and private providers, developing opportunities in neighbourhood working, acute, community and mental health settings, and social care, complementing Simon Bricknell’s work managing the national NHS England Practice Level Support programme.

Dr Davies currently serves as non-executive director at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Care Dorset. He is an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist with a doctorate in clinical psychology, Board Certified Patient Advocate, ILM Level 7 trained executive coach, and holds an Advanced Process Improvement Certificate from Virginia Mason Institute.
Develop Consulting has supported improvement projects in more than 40 Integrated Care Boards and 3000 GP practices over the past five years as a national delivery partner for NHS England’s Practice Level Support programme.
