A leading healthcare transformation consultancy has appointed a former NHS commissioning support director to a newly created commercial leadership role.
Sue Blackman joins Develop Consulting as Commercial Account Director from NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW), where she served as Portfolio Lead for Primary Care Transformation.
Sue will work alongside Healthcare Directors Simon Bricknell to strengthen the company’s relationships with health and care systems as it expands its national footprint.
At SCW, Sue led operational delivery for NHS England’s General Practice Improvement Programme, supporting more than 200 GP practices to deliver sustainable improvements in productivity, access and patient care. Beyond the national programme, she has successfully developed and delivered more than 50 transformation and improvement programmes worth over £7 million across NHS systems.
Having dedicated more than half of her 30-year NHS career to primary care, Sue brings extensive experience of leading transformation and improvement across primary, community and secondary care at practice, place, system and national level. Her expertise spans strategic commissioning, service redesign and system-wide transformation, and she has held senior roles at Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and the Department of Health and Social Care.
In her new role, Sue will focus on developing strategic partnerships with ICBs and system leaders, strengthening Develop Consulting’s primary care and neighbourhood health offer, and supporting the wider consultancy team’s growth across the NHS, voluntary sector and provider markets.
Steve Boam, CEO of Develop Consulting, said: “Sue’s appointment reflects our commitment to bringing the very best NHS leadership talent into our team. Her experience generating significant consultancy revenue while delivering hands-on transformation support to front-line teams makes her exceptionally well placed to strengthen our commercial relationships and support our continued growth in primary care and neighbourhood health.”
Sue added: “I’m delighted to be joining Develop Consulting at such an exciting time for both primary care and the wider NHS. Throughout my career, I’ve loved working alongside people and organisations to solve problems, improve services and turn ambitious ideas into practical improvements. Develop Consulting has an impressive track record of delivering practical, sustainable improvement across the NHS, and I’m really looking forward to working with
